Ascension Sunday

On Ascension Sunday, May 17, 2026, John and Betsey Stewart worshipped with their church family at All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Montecito, California. Joining them for this special occasion were Betsey’s brother, Rick Wood, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and her sister, Renee Baldacinni, from Barrington, Illinois. It was a joyful blessing to be together in worship and fellowship during this meaningful service.

The Rev. Channing Smith, Rector of All Saints-by-the-Sea, led the congregation in Holy Communion, creating a sacred and sweet time of worship. Fr. Miguel Rangel served as guest preacher at both Ascension Sunday services.

Seeing Fr. Miguel brought back special memories for John Stewart. Seventy years ago, at the age of fifteen, John attended the outreach ministry of St. Paul’s Community Development Project (formerly the Despensa Project), where he learned Spanish and developed a lifelong appreciation for Hispanic ministry and outreach.

On this memorable Ascension Sunday, John and Betsey were grateful to celebrate the continuing outreach partnership between Fr. Miguel Rangel and All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. The day was filled with worship, cherished family connections, treasured memories, and thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness through the generations.
